BTW----I have no idea what happened to all the Profile info. Just went and hid somewhere. But I "refreshed" it, so it's back.
I wonder how many folks on this site are serious about ICs or just day-trippin?

Oye, compadres---

Sent off that book I toldya about today. July 30th, Thursday. I think it should reach you OK by August 3rd or sonner.

Hope to see ya soon 'round a campfire here, mellowin out and laughing...watching the occasional spark go up in a firefly corkscrew, soon carried by the early autumn wind. Maybe also this year we can get the cob oven finished and we can do communal pizza bakes...:-)

Heading from NY again? I'd like to invite you to pass through MN; rest just north of St. Paul and I can show you some of my hometown. There are some excellent parks.

Let me know,
Thomas

Make that 24-hour, not 245. And I forgot to tell you that Stephanie and Maro left yesterday and are enroute!
Boy, do we have some serious getting ready to do!

Hi Tori,
Great to hear that Austin's getting Sugaree all prepped for the 5-speed! Sounds like you'll be on the road in No time...:-)

Hauled more hay today...bhut at least it's not mainly for the horses anymore. For the Guernseys instead. Enough of last year's 1st cutting alfalfa to last 'em through until we can get some of this years, and also let 'em out onto pasture. growing fast now. All but 4 of the horses are out in Paddocks 1, 2 aND 3 NOW. tOMORROW WILL MOVE THE REST.
Ooops darn Caps Lock! Still haven't rebuilt the greenhouses or planted Dyer's field. Going to get the Case 930 in Spokane next week...some of the inner PTO bearings were sloooow to come in. Can ya relate to that?
Meantime, I'll have to work the Minnie for 2-3 hrs., then stop and let 'er cool. I still don't get what the hell is up with that...it's not like the engine is overheating...it just loses its nads when when it gets warmed up.
Jamie is out digging trees now...his wonder-job in Sacramento got moved forward yet again. I know he's gotta be gettin disgusted. Ah, well. I couldn't aford to hire him anymore, not steady like that. So all's for the best, I reckon.
Amazing that the girls were so quiet for the right to the Pull-n'-save yard....I seem to remember doubting whether OUR kids on road trips even knew what "quiet" WAS! Now it's THEIR turn...heehee
I'm gonna go sit on the couch and contemplate some TV mindless tripe TOTALLY without relevance or need for thought---no, NOT CNN or FOX! I wouldn't sink THAT low...I mean the 245-hour westerns channel.
Love to all you good folk and hugs all around! --- Da Ben

Hi Austin & Tori & kids,
I happened to be on here anyway, doing some overdue and almost forgotten correspondence with Joshua, thought I'd check in here and say HI...! Thunderstorms today never quite materialized, it was beautiful but windy....next several are supposed to be awesome too. So I'm shooting for getting Dyer's done in oats, the Paddock 2 & 3 re-electric fenced, and moving the horses in there now that the grass is getting worthwhile. About OUT of even the timothy straw I've been reduced to feeding. Vince is working at Naples in the wood mill, but can help on Wednesdays and Thursdays so that'll be a big plus.
How's it going getting the new S-10 tranny? Progress?

Hey, How are things going through the wanderings? I love the photos you've been posting and video clips too. hopefully I'll have some to put up here, of some stick dance. :) yeah, about as creative as some of my recent drawings but I still like to have those in the background.

Just wanted to say hi and hope things are doing well.

Peace

I just cleaned up the last remnants of last years horses that were renting out a small stable for another garden I'm helping set up. Are you guys able to ride the ones your near?

Thank you! We both needed that! What a day---again. lotsa events going on.
(1) New mattress today--so we thoroughly cleaned and rearranged the bedroom. Tiring. But necessary!
(2) At the same moment that the furniture van arrived, Carmen goes into labor. No problem with the delivery...oddly enough. I mean, this baby is huge, and his legs are longf and not correct at all. The foal was born healthy, except for the contracted tendons on the legs---both front and rear. That could be from eating toxic weeds, but more often caused by the individual mares genetically-inherited uterine carrying position. her first foal dies because the presentation was two rear feet forward above, two front feet forward below. Wierd. Baby now can't get up to nurse, can't stand well enough on his legs to get his colostrum. Linda milked the mare, and gave the foal colostrum that way. But I think it's a lost cause, and so said the vet, also. If the foal isn't radically improved by working his tendons and able to nurse by morning, I'll have to put him down, I'm afraid. I hate killing horses. But in nature, the fate of such would be nowhere near as fast and painless.
(3) Jennifer e-mailed and needs an answer about coming here ASAP, because her situation is urgent. We've been playing phone tag....finally she is where she has Internet access, but we can't get free from the chores to call her back or e-mail, together. Linda's feeding the sheep bottle-babies, and then we have to haul water to milk with again.
(4) the remaining leg of the 3-wire 220V power line to the dairy, which includes all water to the house AND the barn also, went out. Tomorrow I hafta use the backhoe and dig up the remnant of the un-protected-by-conduit section of the main line. This after digging and splicing EVERYTHING else in the freaking rocky YARD, BUT that section. Murphy exists.
(5) tomorrow is the last day to repair the automotic gate on the other lane, beforte the johnsons get back, or else I'll hafta keep it open until I do get it fixed, which Linda won't like at all, because then the sheep will be all over God's green acres, incl. the UPRR. (Railroad right-of-way.)

All this on top of not getting the tractors fixed, the deer fence done, the garden tilled, the acreage fertilized and what;s left to be limed as well. Wierdly---I don't have ulcers.
Self-reliance, maybe; SIMPLE? NO! Easy? Laid-back? uh, no.

So, please accept my HEARTY thanks for your kind flower & hug! Make that from BOTH of us, of course....

Much love to all of you, Family! ---- Ben & Linda

Oh, you must mean the baby lambs, eh? Yeah, I guess they're cute. Li'l pains in the ass, though. Until ya feed 'em.
Well, you have a good day. Hope your part comes in soon...!

Oh BTW on the music subject---I gave ya Canned Heat, but not Woodstock. When you come back out, I'll ask you to let me copy that one. It's no longer available, at least through my sources. I'd REALLY like to get the movie, as a DVD...but that's no longer available, either.
Was some of that stuff I made unknown to you, or too lame & tame, like say Simon & Garfunkle? Or do you dig it all?
One of my favorites single songs is the last on the Spirit of the 60s, "Live for Today". Sums up the feeling of being in the Now. And being eternally young.

Well, gotta go with Linda and do bottle babies...or just get a lift over there to unload hay. Bye now.

Partz from Nevada? Amazing...why couldn't you have bought something made outta more common parts, like say the Space Shuttle? :-0 You know I'm jus' teasin ya...hey, I'm no stranger to oscure parts hunts, either! Would you believe that the most-critical chamber part on my "common" 1963 Case 930's hydraulic pump had to come from the world's LAST remaining source for 'em...in northern Saskatchewan? No wonder they come up with phrases like, "Take OFF, hoser!" Eh?
Such is the life of the resistance to debt / consumerism (a glorified term for those too poor or cheap to operate new equipment), ya gotta REALLY run against the wind at times, which can be a REAL rumpbite as a bonus. Oh, well...whatcha gonna DO?
Well, I hope that the part comes through OK from Nevada. Reminds me of all the BS I hadta do to get my '47 Dodge 1 1/2 Ton'er ready for thr trip out here the first time...the same month, I noticed, as Jen was born. Boy, sometimes I feel like I'm so freakin old I fart dust. Anyway, that's another story for another time...around the campfire maybe...:-)
Gonna go stack hay offa the trailer, and run down to Naples...(the REAL Ruby Ridge...oooooooo) and get another load of hay to keep my pampered ponies fed until the grass gets a good bit taller.
Watched a vid last night that Pam sent us, about the murder of JFK, Jr. That never occurred to me, but it's quite a story...and just as obvious and ridiculous a cover-up as the 9-11 crime.
Ah, well... enough talk. Gotta woooooorrk...:-( ttyl Ben

Ahh....just an off-the-shelf part, eh? That sounds better'n a whole tranny, at that! I hope that goes well, and comes off without a hitch.
Hey....did I ever make you copies of Canned Heat, Volumes I & II? Oh, well...even if it's just the first one...that's the one with "On the Road Again" on it. Also my personal Woodstock fav, "Goin' On up The Country". Gotta admit it's all-time classic travel boogie mooosic.
Glad you like Michael Franti. We were blown away by him when we first listened, too. "Revolution never comes with a warning"....:-) Ooooh, yeah. Good l;yrics...I esp. like "an' God's too big for jus' one religion!"
I'm babbling...getting waaay past tired. Good Night, all. God bless....

No tranny...? What could be more common than a Chevy 4-speed bolted to a 350? Sheistcrackers.
Don't most wrecking yards there have computer linkups to other yards where they can locate specific stuff?
Where's a good wormhole when you need one?

Yeah, this IS kinda fun...whadda we have now, 4 different ways to communicate on the Net? An' that ain't EVEN countin the phone or the snail mail...which is jus' for sendin books an the like.
Hopefully, by the time you read this, Austin'll be 95% sure it will be the right tranny.

You guys did it to us with THAT one....a heart-melter!! We love & miss you, too! Hmmm....
I'll get even with ya, now...one cute bear deserves another...if i can get the flash right on the camera, I'll photograph li'l "Honey Bear" and send HIM to ya! THAT'LL get ya! Heeheeheeheehee
Guess what? JUST now came in and covered with birth slime. Amy had her calf (this is the year for bull claves, I 'spose) and we hadta grab him and haul him away from Mom and into the hay chamber, Elsie's stall next to the milk room. Of course, the plan worked, and Amy followed, bawling away until we put down the calf. So now they're both secure, with hay and water, of course, where no other cows can bug her.
Linda's over with the sheep right now. She has four bottle babies this year so far. Two from that C-section we hadta do...the ewe had triplets in her, and the two larger, stronger ones survived. I think that Linda secretly enjoys bottle-feeding those lambs....even a Grandma has a motherin' instinct I guess. Never too old....:-)
Vince and Jamie went nuts on the coldframe today and the plastic is down. they plumbing supply place sent us the wrong cutter wheels for my old Rigid cutter, so we might hafta go the rest of the way with a Sawzall. But it's coming down, and will soon go back up!
Great to hear that your gardening is getting a good start, Tori. Here, the deer fence is going well, so far we have reduced the size of the area I was gonna fence to a more affordable area, and I think we'll be able to pull it off. About 7 to 8 acres, which will protect row crops like corn as well as rows of new berry bushes, fruit & nut trees, and herbals for medical, fiber dyeing, and etc.
The Minnie got new tires on the rear, all I hafta do now is get the plow down to the leased acreage, and do it. That, and come up with the $$ for the seed, gyp, fertilizer and fuel.
all will roll on as it should...with enough determination and faith. Same there for you guys, you are blessed! Carry on....

Hey Austin, Tori & Ashlei & Annika;

How are things going? Are you living at Jen's or does Greg have ya squirreled away in his hobbit hole? ;-)
Could you elaborate a little on the tension getting heavy back there? Do you mean, in a general sense, among everybody at large, or like in your own situation only?
Are there soup kitchens on every corner in this wonderful Obama rally?

Greetings gentle spirits,

Great profile, you have an awesome flow of positive energy. I totally agree with you and can't wait to find a place to call home, and prolly bust my butt making it so... it's all good, if it helps all within. Are you forming a community or searching for one?

Peace and blessings,
Spirit Wynd
