How did you find A Place for Gathering?

About Me:
I am a 28 year old Mother of 2 beautiful little girls ages 6 and 9, and wife of 10 years of my Husband Austin who is alomost 27. We are both from a small town in upstate NY called Oneonta.
I was introduced to festivals by a sweet hippie at the age of 16, so I actually expeienced the peace and love and hormony people can have in large groups and small. my Husband learned alot of this life style through me.
Regardless of how you grew up or what youve been told all your life, We believe that the want and need for everyone to come together in love and peace, and to live from the earth mother in balance and harmony is an instinct in all of us. But it is our own responsibility to seek this and achive it.
Hobbies:
our hobbies include but are not limited to....at this point in our lives we are seeking as much knowledge of the native way of life. We are learning differnt ways of growing our own food. and basic human survival. other fun things we do is go out enjoy nature. we love all kinds of music but my heart is most tender to the sound of a drum circle, I see my children love t play around with them too , as well as dance and sing. and a new hobbie we have all taken on thanks to my nephew who spins fire poi ..is poi we all have fun seeing who can get a new trick to work, ofcourse without fire...for now :)
What kind of Skill and Support can you offer a community?
My skills come from being a stay at home mom as you can imagine I do alot of different jobs on a daily basis. My husband has experience in a little bit of everything, basic plumbing, some electrical, hes pretty much a jack of all trades..and if he dont know he will figure it out.
Support is open in all areas, its a group effort right? so support in all ways is crucial, you need it for farming, work, building ect... you need to be able to keep the community going strong and for that you need to not only offer support but also recieve it! Open mind's respect for others and faith in your brothers and sisters! and LOVE, just let it shine!! :)
What States are you interested in for Community?
any-we feel this is our destiny to leave society so we are willing to go where the wind takes us.
My Visions or Views for Intentional Communities are:
A group of people there for eachother that live off the grid and away from the crazyness of society. This is something We feel would help our children grow as we were meant to grow and learn. My greatest hope is a safe place with fit food and water for my kids so they can be healthy. We see what we learned all our lives is what is killing our children, we need to be able to take care of ourselfs and not be forced to rely on any government or institution. We must take the steps to change the way our children learn too. I could really go on and on.

Opinions...please

I have found alot of government conspiracy stuff over the last 6 month or so.
What has me nervous is all the talk about troops being deployed here in the US "incase of civil unrest" and the fact that Bush has changed so many laws that he can now or even Obama can declare Martial Law, the other thing that scares me is the talk and vids Ive seen of so called fema death camps. supposedly ther is some 800 set up and ready to go here in the US.
its no secret that there is a group of elite that rule t… Continue

BTW----I have no idea what happened to all the Profile info. Just went and hid somewhere. But I "refreshed" it, so it's back.
I wonder how many folks on this site are serious about ICs or just day-trippin?

Oye, compadres---

Sent off that book I toldya about today. July 30th, Thursday. I think it should reach you OK by August 3rd or sonner.

Hope to see ya soon 'round a campfire here, mellowin out and laughing...watching the occasional spark go up in a firefly corkscrew, soon carried by the early autumn wind. Maybe also this year we can get the cob oven finished and we can do communal pizza bakes...:-)

Heading from NY again? I'd like to invite you to pass through MN; rest just north of St. Paul and I can show you some of my hometown. There are some excellent parks.

Let me know,
Thomas

Make that 24-hour, not 245. And I forgot to tell you that Stephanie and Maro left yesterday and are enroute!
Boy, do we have some serious getting ready to do!

Hi Tori,
Great to hear that Austin's getting Sugaree all prepped for the 5-speed! Sounds like you'll be on the road in No time...:-)

Hauled more hay today...bhut at least it's not mainly for the horses anymore. For the Guernseys instead. Enough of last year's 1st cutting alfalfa to last 'em through until we can get some of this years, and also let 'em out onto pasture. growing fast now. All but 4 of the horses are out in Paddocks 1, 2 aND 3 NOW. tOMORROW WILL MOVE THE REST.
Ooops darn Caps Lock! Still haven't rebuilt the greenhouses or planted Dyer's field. Going to get the Case 930 in Spokane next week...some of the inner PTO bearings were sloooow to come in. Can ya relate to that?
Meantime, I'll have to work the Minnie for 2-3 hrs., then stop and let 'er cool. I still don't get what the hell is up with that...it's not like the engine is overheating...it just loses its nads when when it gets warmed up.
Jamie is out digging trees now...his wonder-job in Sacramento got moved forward yet again. I know he's gotta be gettin disgusted. Ah, well. I couldn't aford to hire him anymore, not steady like that. So all's for the best, I reckon.
Amazing that the girls were so quiet for the right to the Pull-n'-save yard....I seem to remember doubting whether OUR kids on road trips even knew what "quiet" WAS! Now it's THEIR turn...heehee
I'm gonna go sit on the couch and contemplate some TV mindless tripe TOTALLY without relevance or need for thought---no, NOT CNN or FOX! I wouldn't sink THAT low...I mean the 245-hour westerns channel.
Love to all you good folk and hugs all around! --- Da Ben

Hi Austin & Tori & kids,
I happened to be on here anyway, doing some overdue and almost forgotten correspondence with Joshua, thought I'd check in here and say HI...! Thunderstorms today never quite materialized, it was beautiful but windy....next several are supposed to be awesome too. So I'm shooting for getting Dyer's done in oats, the Paddock 2 & 3 re-electric fenced, and moving the horses in there now that the grass is getting worthwhile. About OUT of even the timothy straw I've been reduced to feeding. Vince is working at Naples in the wood mill, but can help on Wednesdays and Thursdays so that'll be a big plus.
How's it going getting the new S-10 tranny? Progress?

Hey, How are things going through the wanderings? I love the photos you've been posting and video clips too. hopefully I'll have some to put up here, of some stick dance. :) yeah, about as creative as some of my recent drawings but I still like to have those in the background.

Just wanted to say hi and hope things are doing well.

Peace

I just cleaned up the last remnants of last years horses that were renting out a small stable for another garden I'm helping set up. Are you guys able to ride the ones your near?

Thank you! We both needed that! What a day---again. lotsa events going on.
(1) New mattress today--so we thoroughly cleaned and rearranged the bedroom. Tiring. But necessary!
(2) At the same moment that the furniture van arrived, Carmen goes into labor. No problem with the delivery...oddly enough. I mean, this baby is huge, and his legs are longf and not correct at all. The foal was born healthy, except for the contracted tendons on the legs---both front and rear. That could be from eating toxic weeds, but more often caused by the individual mares genetically-inherited uterine carrying position. her first foal dies because the presentation was two rear feet forward above, two front feet forward below. Wierd. Baby now can't get up to nurse, can't stand well enough on his legs to get his colostrum. Linda milked the mare, and gave the foal colostrum that way. But I think it's a lost cause, and so said the vet, also. If the foal isn't radically improved by working his tendons and able to nurse by morning, I'll have to put him down, I'm afraid. I hate killing horses. But in nature, the fate of such would be nowhere near as fast and painless.
(3) Jennifer e-mailed and needs an answer about coming here ASAP, because her situation is urgent. We've been playing phone tag....finally she is where she has Internet access, but we can't get free from the chores to call her back or e-mail, together. Linda's feeding the sheep bottle-babies, and then we have to haul water to milk with again.
(4) the remaining leg of the 3-wire 220V power line to the dairy, which includes all water to the house AND the barn also, went out. Tomorrow I hafta use the backhoe and dig up the remnant of the un-protected-by-conduit section of the main line. This after digging and splicing EVERYTHING else in the freaking rocky YARD, BUT that section. Murphy exists.
(5) tomorrow is the last day to repair the automotic gate on the other lane, beforte the johnsons get back, or else I'll hafta keep it open until I do get it fixed, which Linda won't like at all, because then the sheep will be all over God's green acres, incl. the UPRR. (Railroad right-of-way.)

All this on top of not getting the tractors fixed, the deer fence done, the garden tilled, the acreage fertilized and what;s left to be limed as well. Wierdly---I don't have ulcers.
Self-reliance, maybe; SIMPLE? NO! Easy? Laid-back? uh, no.

So, please accept my HEARTY thanks for your kind flower & hug! Make that from BOTH of us, of course....

Much love to all of you, Family! ---- Ben & Linda
