I was told to put straw over my strawberries for the winter and they'll come back in the spring and produce again.
Same with lettuce and spinach, don't till the soil where they grew, they too will come back.

Well the evening gathering by the fire is to discuss the progress of the day and needs for the next, to develop the work schedule and what needs to be modified, or who wants to learn what... unfortunately, income is necessary to pay the yearly tax...
I would find an old tree, and cut it into 4-7 foot lengths, get chainsaws, or chisels or grinders and make totem poles.
load them up , hit every antique store, arts fair, festival concert. Sell them. I am an artist so I know how to make these thin...

- Well, gotta have my woods, and anything nature for that matter. I lived in and around wooded ares most my life and spend more time there than in Babylon. I consider myself a naturalist, forage wild edible plants, and practice survival skills when I can. I am an assistant scoutmaster and was a nature guide for a state park. I was living with a friend as a caretaker for over 20 acres of land, 10 German Shepards, 15 cats, 3 birds, and a few people.
- Hobbies:
- Nature, hiking, camping, mountain bike, photograph nature and animals, organic garden, dry herbs for tea or soup, help family, help others, play guitar, recycle and reuse what I can, video games, surf web, Runescape, cooking, baking, reading, collect rocks and gemstones, and many others as well.
- What kind of Skill and Support can you offer a community?
- Organic farming, composting, fire making for different purposes, rope work and lashing, survival skills, forage wild edibles, use plants for tools and medicine, build shelters, camp, fish, hunt, organize, safety and first aid, honesty, loyalty, and common sense.
- What States are you interested in for Community?
- Woods, mountains, no chance of flooding my place, or near military targets, cities, or too close to Babylon.
- My Visions or Views for Intentional Communities are:
- Peaceful, hard working, non-violent, open minded people, coming together to teach and learn, to share music, crafts, stories, experience, wisdom, and love, to earn trust and respect while moving toward self sustaining our place. To host workshops teaching skills, bonfires, camp outs, and eventually run a few business' to expand the land and our family. To grow as individuals, as a group, and be ourselves when we do things in our own space...in our own time.

Just was let go from a canvassing job I thought would get me through the summer. was doing well but didn't get the right quota to continue with the group as they are changing to amnesty international now. The 'hut' I do have, unfortunately, costs 800 to keep and stock so I am going to have to find something else or make my creativity count, and quickly. I'm thinking of starting a nature class; any ideas? I think I gotta find those lost in the cyber world of today that are willing to trade some of their snowballed profits for a glimpse into what might ground them appropriately for where they are.

Unfortantly the community we were suppose to join fell apart just before settling. We fortuntly did not have plans of moving there till June as we wanted our kids to finish the school year. But land was supposed to been purchased and the first members were going to move there this month to start construction. As things would be by higher powers at work it was not meant to be. The couple that was organizing the whole thing fell in to hard times when he suddenly lost his job and suffered other set backs so as far as we now the the community is on hold until further notice. So in the meantime we are back to looking again. The community was called Shenandoah Village http://www.freewebs.com/shenandoahsutler/ if you like to learn more about it.
