- About Me:
- Until November 2007, I had worked in the corporate sector for over 16 years. At that time I lost my job to downsizing, and have since been seeking work and doing some serious soul searching. While this has placed a tremendous financial burden on me, which I am finding quite frightening at this time, it has allowed me to get back in touch with who I truly am. And I have discovered something I really knew all along - I am not a corporate person. I am a person with strong passions and convictions, who yearns to live a life at peace and harmony with nature and the environment, as well as all of her wonderful creatures. I believe very strongly in the sanctity of all life and in showing compassion and respect toward all living beings. Toward that end, I hope to be able to manifest that in every aspect of my life, including the way I choose to make my living, or should I say make my life.
- Hobbies:
- As indicated in the "Skill and Support" question, my avocation is cat rescue, though I would like to make cat rescue, and animal rescue in general my full time vocation - in conjunction with living a self-sufficient, sustainable life, of course.
Over the years, I have rescued and re-homed upwards of 40 abandoned, abused, and/or neglected cats. I also maintain a feral cat colony and care for the outdoor cats in my neighborhood; providing spay/neuter surgery & post-surgery rehab, food, water, & outdoor shelter in the winter.
- What kind of Skill and Support can you offer a community?
- I have, at the time of this posting, over 16 years of administrative experience in a variety of different industries, and also have over 4 years of experience in small scale cat rescue
- What States are you interested in for Community?
- Michigan
- My Visions or Views for Intentional Communities are:
- I see the community being a mutually supportive environment, where we all work together toward the common goal of making the world a better place for all living beings. A place where everyone is treated with respect and appreciation. A place where we not only enjoy working together, but also playing together and sharing communally prepared, compassionate, healthful meals. I see the community being an environmentally sustainable, self-supporting community that is a catalyst for change; one that leads by example and encourages others to do the same. In the words of Margaret Meade - "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." Let's be that small group!

Self sufficiency is always easier when in a group. Always remember to keep your standard of living as high as possible, without compromising your natural surroundings. For example, I generate a surplus amount of power which means that I can keep my air-conditioners going all day long. Other people cannot afford to do this. My standard of living, working WITH Nature, is higher than those that don't.
Just took a peek at your post. I worked for years with a group in Pittsburgh Pa, called homeless cat managment team. We did sooo many rescues. So much to be done, so many creatures in need of help.... I really hope I meet a group of people soon and live in a communal way. I really want to get away from this madness and off grid...back to basics. Hope you are well!
