Hello all,
Recently I was interviewed by Susan B. Frank, a student at Prescott College in Arizona regarding my views and experience with IC's. She's mentoring with Laird Shaub a long time member of the Federation for Egalitarian Communities (FEC)...
I think Leo that you have picked a good one. I love Julie and Will. I have talked to Julie quiet a few times. They seem like very down to earth good people. I hope that you will share with us here on A Place for Gathering your experiences with She...
Greetings Llyn,
Thanks for your responce and feedback. The community that I posted about well it will not get off the ground. The founder, unfortantly has no plans as to how the community will support itself. Any way we have put that place in our...
Well hopefully in a few weeks we will be expanding the house by 2-3 more bedrooms and another bathroom. YEAH! Mornings are really fun around here.....lol.
Blessings,

I can see the downfall as a blessing. People really have to think about what they are doing and buying now. To think if they really need it.
We are feeling the effects of the depression....My Mother and my sister and my nephew are moving in with u...
Hi Leo, thanks for taking the time to share some of your story and perspective. You put an actual face to the nightly news Chris and I watch most days. The kind of community Chris and I are proposing is really not so very radical in some ways. As ...
I am having trouble getting the taller climbers going but have already enjoy the first growth of radishes and some of the onion greens. Had fun meeting with the neighbors to include everything for a breakfast meal :)
Well i am 20 years old, so yes i am able to move freely, despite the fact that i am currently living with my parents. i may be able to find transportation to where you guys are. I was wondering if there's any work to be done, or if there's anything you two would need? I don't have much knowledge of organic gardening, none actually, and am just starting to learn about intentional communities, but i am very eager to learn more.
Hello and thanks for the warm welcome!
I checked out your guys' sight. I am very interested in finding a community to join. What you guys are doing is so right on. I am recently on this path of living which is very contrary to the way that i was raised(I only say that because since my views have changed i have had a lot of pushback from my parents) But basically I want to live light and enjoy my life without all the stresses of Babylon. I much prefer to be camped in the woods than living in a house. But right now i am interested in travelling some more and seeing and meeting more places and people. I am trying to get a little perspective before i find a place to call home if that makes sense. But anyways I am in Eugene for probably a month or two more and if you guys need any help or just to meet up to chat i would love to since you guys are soo close to me! I can't believe it, such a small world!
C & L, I don't usually send stuff without checking it out well but I wanted you to see this and don't know when I'll have time to check it out....Alan http://www.crossroad.to/articles2/08/swat-team.htm
LOL = lots of laughter
BTW = By the way
WTF = what the f@#k

I don't use the last 2 but just figure you might run into them
Alan
C & L ,
I had to get printer ink to finish you booklets....printed them out yesterday and read through "Holding all things common" I'm going to read it again like it was study materiel.
I found " Anatomy of Sharing" to be a sermon...not in a bad way...but I could just see you behind a pulpit delivering this to the first church of somewhere LOL Most would not be very accepting I'm thinking. Of course the "church" of Jesus' time wasn't very accepting either.
I'll get back to you with more thoughts later.
ALAN
Ah, yes. I didn't see it because my computer bumped it inot "jenk e-mail" instead of the Inbox. I seriously question the machine's judgement...and it let's total commercial spam through to the Inbox...gotta keep an eye on it.
Yes, I read your letter, and I printed out the Anatomy of Sharing as well...
I appreciate your feedback and your comments, as always. I will share some of my reactions and comments with you via e-mail once I get a chance to do so. I might be able to write a little now, but I have to leave for a fire Dept. board meeting at 6, and it's 4:30 now, so...
Anyway, have a joy-full and restful night, my friends... ---Ben
I really have not thought of this way of life in the USA, in the back of my mind I realize now that I had always planned on going back the the Mayan villages (southern Belize or Guatemala ) if I really wanted to leave "Babylon". Organic, small, sustainable, farming is so close to what they already do. There needs to be better education there on the sustainable part but it is making inroads. I have Indian friends that are planting new forest cover..mahogany, ect. and then planting cocoa under the cover. They grow some of the best organic cocoa in the world that is sold to Black & Greens in England.
Have a good day and may God bless your efforts, ALAN
We are a "community" of two adults, renting a house in rural Oregon near Corvallis (Jan. 2008). Our vision is to create a community based on Jesus’ teachings outlined in Acts 4:32-35, and to demonstrate the efficacy of sharing ‘all things common’. It is our intention to create a rural, communal village and eventually to have other branches – both urban and rural. We are looking for partners: people who “get” what we’re talking about and wish to join us, either through tax-deductible donations, or by moving to this area and living together to begin the demonstration.
For an in depth profile and photos of what we're up to, please see our blog: http://www.fullcirclefamily.blogspot.com/
What States are you interested in for Community?
We see ourselves staying in the Eugene, OR area, at least through summer of 2010 as Chris has a son who lives with us half time through the end of highschool. Beyond that we are open to broader possibilities but wish to stay in a climate similar to this area as it is so conducive to growing a wide variety of foods.
My Visions or Views for Intentional Communities are:
We aim to create a thriving home for our members. A place where ones 'bliss’ and skills intersect with the world’s need; a home where we are supported to live by The Golden Rule. We aim to put God first and to listen deeply for guidance from this Source. Our lives are our prayer. We give, each according to our ability and receive, each according to our need. We live a simple life yet one rich in the treasures of peace and beauty, the joys of completing tasks with a sense of craftsmanship and service, and the pleasure of companionship based on seeing the Christ in each other.
We have given careful consideration to some of the guidelines we feel are important in creating an atmosphere most conducive to the success of this community. We invite people who are on a committed spiritual path. The form is less important than the intention to see the world through a spiritual lens. We, the founders, are avid students of A Course in Miracles. We read daily from this text and seek always to apply these principles in our daily lives. We are farmers and want a life that reflects our basic non-violent tendencies. For this reason our community is based on an ovo-lacto vegetarian diet. Occasional, private use of alcohol is acceptable. Tobacco-use by members is prohibited. We also have no room in this paradigm for cats or dogs. We are creating an environment meant to provide the optimal conditions for success and feel these guidelines are most in harmony with this end.
