I'm looking to join, form or already affiliated with an Intentional Community?
Looking to form an intentional community
How did you find A Place for Gathering?
ad on ic.org
About Me:
Single 51yr old with 9yr old son.
Hobbies:
Guitar, environmental and political activism, reading, gardening, building, inventing/problem solving
What kind of Skill and Support can you offer a community?
Off grid since '90. 135 ac hometead includes passive solar home, unfinished barn/workshop/studio, biodiesel operation, trout pond and stream, aprox 2ac under cultivation, berrys and fruit trees, lots of peace and quiet. I'm good with the technical/practical type stuff. Could stand some enrichment on other levels.
What States are you interested in for Community?
New York
My Visions or Views for Intentional Communities are:
Interested in mutually beneficial sustainable living with like minded partner(s). I find my values to be at odds with the leadership and mainstream population of this country and want to make them as irrelevant as possible in my life. Minimalizing consumption and participation in the corporate economy. Setting an example of one kind of fulfilling lifestyle that doesn't require a war machine to support it. Finding enjoyment and entertainment that isn't delivered on a screen. Healthy wholesome foods that aren't shipped from across oceans and don't originate in a factory.

How're things going back there on your place? As usual, here is very...er...busy. Crazed would work as well...haying season, mechanical & financial problems, but nothing out of the ordinary and we can't deal with 'em. In general, progressing onward pretty well.
Have you ever hosted WOOFers? or do you currently have people from this list or others joining you? Would like to visit some about organizational approaches and group dynamics, with another who's doin it.
We're currently (as time permits) reading Diane Leafe Christian's excellent book on the topic, "Creating A Life Together", available through the FIC (ic.org). Lotsa good thoughts!!
Good health, and high happiness to you & yours! Stay movin and caring!
Hiya Bill, welcome! nice to see another new yorker here, I'm in Cooperstown where abouts are you?
Have a great day..and stay warm :)
Truth..Love..Peace

Understood.
We're not going to be doing ASTM either although Lougheed's does.
No need to pick my brain - almost everything I know about biodiesel is available at:
http://www.community-wealth.org/_pdfs/articles-publications/coops/paper-freundt.pdf
(with my surname with its commonly misspelling) I provided the research and my draft to Wally Seccombe PhD. He wrote the final copy in what I think is elegant style. I don't expect you to do more than scan over it, if that. I would direct any questions to Jay Mowatt. who is very generous with all he knows or Greg Lougheed who is practically a biodiesel magician but somewhat less available.
It seems the deep freeze the weather mongers were predicting isn't materializing. - yet. Although I dress for the weather to enjoy whatever comes, I can't say I mind : )
Did a deep freeze hit your neck of the woods overnight too?
I'm impressed that you make biodiesel & also that you were able to sell it profitably, even if you can't right now.
On this site, I don't know what the difference between being designated as a friend or not since we were already able to send messages to each other. Perhaps it will become apparent.
