community forming in Portugal looking for new members
Hi everyone,
We are 3 adults and 3 children who are seeking more members for our community here in Portugal.
We live on 30 acres of land, 5 of which is woodland. We are growing organic veg, fruit and intend raisiing animals for meat.
This is a relatively new venture so everything is at the early stages. We have our own water and use sawdust toilets that we build ourselves and are available for sale.
We have a small area set aside for eco-camping that has its own sawdust toilets. Details for people who want to camp can be got by E-mailing us.
Our land is mainly a mixed bag of cistus and lavender from which we will be making essential oils.
We intend to be a financially self sufficient and thriving community in 2 to 3 years.
At this time electricity is from generators though in the near future will be solar and wind powered. We use caravans as bedrooms and have just finished rebuilding and extending to old cassa into a communal kitchen/diner and relaxation room.
English is the main language spoken here though we are all learning Portuguese and are open to all nationalities. At this time we are looking for single women, couples and families. (because I dont want to be the only woman :))
You will neeed to provide your own low impact sleeping space.
All work here is done by ourselves working together whether it is a building project, ditch digging or making wine.
We are down to earth people, we do not tollerate drugs here, though we smoke tobbaco and enjoy a drink of wine.
There is a spiritual element to our lives here. We work with the wheel of the year and the phases of the moon. Although we believe a persons spirituality is a personal matter and our accepting to all beliefs so long as they are not missionary or judgemental.
Two of us are qualified homeopaths and offer short teaching courses and treatments.

Sounds very nice. Will you be networking actively with US and other communities? How many people would you all like to see living there, as a permanent membership base?
Como similar a espanol esta la lingua portugese? Esta muy dificil a estudiar?
Are you folks from Britain? I see your e-mail is uk. May I ask why English (or American or Canadian or Welsh, I don't know) people interested in community would pick Portugal as a place to settle? Does it offer life opportunities and freedoms that English-speaking countries do not?
What you all have begun sounds like fun, and inspirational as well. Best wishes & regards!

Hi there,
we are not actively networking with other communities, however are always open to other like minded people. we would like about 15 adults as permanant members and lots of kids. we are a very family based community. O lingua Portuguese e pouco parecido com espanhol, mas muito diferente tambem. Pode falar e compreende espanhol entao aprende Portuguese e facil.
Yes we are British. We are here because there is more percieved freedom, yes. And hey life is an adventure, living in a new country broadens the mind.
